Another season is over. We finished the chickpeas with similar yields to fababeans. Overall, disappointing results, but we are in the middle of a drought. It stayed dry after planting, so the moisture stressed crops were hit hard by August frost. What have we learnt from this season? Starting soil moisture needs rethinking. 60 – 70cms wasn’t enough this season relying too much on incrop rainfall (that never came). Also long term weather forcasts tend to weigh heavily on our decision making, so more careful assessment needed.
As we put this season behind us, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous new year in 2014.
Cheers, David and Peter Ricardo

Hi guys,
Merry Xmas and happy new year. I hope 2014 is a cracker year for you. I live in Sydney with wife and kids and follow your blog with great interest. Pics on your site are great and really show the scale of your property. I’ll be watching for cereal planting….
Cheers, Lloyd.
