Its been a tough season to date and getting tougher as temperatures rise and no rainfall recorded during August. Moisture stressed crops were also hit hard with frost on 19th August. A -3 degree event was enough to take out a big percentage(more than half) of the fababean crop, but its unclear how bad the damage is. Even green pods appear OK until opened to find brown seeds turning to gel. This crop has finished flowering and with temps of 30+degrees everyday, its race is run. Early chickpeas were also effected by frost, but could recover if we see some rain over coming weeks.
Working on pics, sorry – David
